The Art of the Catch: Jenna Reedy's Coastal Impressions

Get to Know: Jenna Reedy from Fish Prints by Jenna

We're drawn to artists whose work tells a story—and whose connection to craftsmanship, place, and creativity feels deeply rooted. That's why we're excited to welcome Jenna Reedy of Fish Prints by Jenna to The Gallery at Noted.

Jenna's work is inspired by the centuries-old Japanese art form of gyotaku, a traditional printing technique that captures the intricate details of fish through direct impressions. She remarks, “I’ve spent most of my life on the water and grew up in a fishing family, so working with real fish felt natural and meaningful. I’ve always thought fish were beautiful — their scales, fins, shapes, eyes, and colors are so unique — and gyotaku captures those details with honesty.”  Using locally caught fish and a thoughtful blend of traditional and contemporary methods, Jenna creates artwork that celebrates the beauty of New England's coastal waters while honoring the history and heritage behind the practice.

Each piece is a striking combination of nature, artistry, and storytelling. Whether you're drawn to the textures, the coastal connection, or the unique process itself, Jenna's work invites viewers to appreciate the remarkable details often found just beneath the surface.

"The Gallery at Noted is one of my favorite parts of the shop because it gives us the opportunity to introduce our community to talented local artists they may not have discovered otherwise," says Ashley, owner of Noted. "I was especially excited when I met Jenna. Her pieces reflect the craftsmanship and creativity we love to celebrate at Noted, and I think our customers are going to connect with her art in a really meaningful way."

For Jenna, exhibiting at Noted felt like a natural fit. "I love how Noted blends scents, gifts, and creativity — it’s such a thoughtful, sensory space. My work fits naturally into that idea of gifting something personal and enduring. I also love the workshops and the way Noted encourages everyone to make things with their hands. I think everyone should create, and I hope my work inspires people in the community to explore their own creativity.”

We're honored to share Jenna's work with our community and invite you to stop by The Gallery to experience these beautiful pieces in person. Whether you're a longtime collector, a lover of coastal New England, or simply curious about the art of gyotaku, Jenna's collection offers a unique perspective on the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Fish Prints by Jenna will be on display and available for purchase at The Gallery at Noted through September. We will be adding a fish print class as part of our Get Creative Class Series. Be sure to subscribe to our emails to stay current with updates!
